Please remember that if your child can’t participate in regular daily activities they are too ill to be in school.

The Meadows is not licensed to provide care for children who are ill. For the health and safety of all students, children showing any of the symptoms listed below must remain at home for at least 48 hours (and up to 72 hours if there is a health concern in the school or community), or until they are symptom-free without the use of medication. We kindly ask that children not be given medicine to mask symptoms, as this can lead to further spread of illness. Families are encouraged to keep children home whenever they are not feeling well so everyone in our community can stay healthy.

Children may not return to school early with a doctor’s note; at a minimum, we follow CDC and Colorado Department of Public Health exclusion guidelines. In some cases, management may require a longer exclusion period to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff. Families must notify us promptly if a child receives a diagnosis so we can communicate with other families and staff and take appropriate precautions to prevent further spread.

If a child becomes ill while at the center, we will contact parents right away and ask that the child be picked up as soon as possible. To maintain open communication and transparency, all illnesses are posted on Brightwheel. Please reach out if you ever have questions about a diagnosis or the policies in place.

During a pandemic, outbreak, or other public health concern, our illness policy may become stricter in alignment with CDC, local health department, or management guidance. This may include increased exclusion periods or, in rare cases, quarantining whole families after an exposure. Our illness policy is fluid and may change as circumstances evolve, but Brightwheel will always contain the most up-to-date information.

We ask that parents do not medicate their children prior to having them attend school. If your child needs medication to get through the school day then they are too ill to attend. We are sure that you would expect the same respect from other parents.
